DSJ4 will be released when it's finished.
So, far the project looks very promising but there is still a lot to do, so I won't be giving any guesstimates about the release date.
I still remember what happened with the early estimates with DSJ3...

When it's done....
Take the time you need, but how long will it presumably take you to finish DSJ4?

For me it resembles DSJ3 too much with more details in the background and more detailed hill. I only hope that that 'repetitiveness' in gameplay that you need only a mouse to make a jump will stay the same. It's simple but I remember my first jumps on DSJ3 and they were terrible. I was too used to DSJ2. Simple, yet difficult to master. And that's the point! Now I can't jump on DSJ2.

Well, anyway I would be happy if hills had more round K-points. It doesn't matter if 5 hills are K-120, they can still have a different feeling when jumping, i.e. different thresholds (different heights, different grades), different HS values etc. There are 4 hills in real life with K-185 and each one is different! However, I don't say I don't enjoy flying over 300 meters. I would even like to see bigger hills like HS over 300 meters. I was very happy to see Croatia and later Iceland.
The other thing is wind. Normally, a ski jumper isn't allowed to make a jump when wind is for example 4 m/s in his back, on Slovenia it usually means I can at most get to the K-point. Also, now to get a very good hill record one has to have a good wind of at least 2,5 m/s (and the best wind on giants like Slovenia HS281 is ~2,5 m/s when taking off and ~4 m/s when landing, normally ski jumpers should be able to jump 300 meters even with 2,5 m/s, well with the wind of 0,0 m/s it's also possible to get a good score but it's still different than in real life). Just my thoughts to make it more real.
Keep up the good work! And you might take a look at
FIS rules for giving points for each meter for different hills, e.g. 2.2 pts / meter on hills with K-point ranging from 70 to 79 meters.

The controls will be the same in DSJ4 as in earlier DSJs, but since the physics engine is new and more advanced, there will be some new aspects of ski jumping to take care of. Basicly this means a more realistic jumping experience. Also the winds will be more moderate in DSJ4. And the meter values which you mentioned were calculated this way already in DSJ3.

Helloo!
My wishes for DSJ4 are:
Better graphic
That we can choose the start gate so you can jump the hills with various speed
That we can choose the windcondition in the Training
More realistic and all what doubleffect says -> that is good!
Hopefully we can play it like this, in a view time.
With the best wishes for DSJ4
Clemens

servus jussi.
i am very happy to read that you're currently working on a new version of dsj. it has been one of the best computer games for 10 years now. i am really curious to see all the improvements and/or new features. moreover i'm pretty sure the next generation of dsj will rock the same way like dsj2 did and dsj3 does ...

According to that screenshot on mediamond's main page, we will most certainly have weather and day/night effects. I have a question for Jussi, those (especially weather) effects, will they be able to make any influence on jumping, or are they just for graphic improvement?
Greetings

That is still to be decided. How you would you like it?

I'd like if there will be some influence, slower speed during snowfall etc. That would be more realistic.
Maybe we will find some weather kings among all jumpers that will be at their best always during bad conditions, sounds fun to me
My vote: Yes

I think its a very good idea that the weather will have an influence on the jump.
The first thing that came to my mind was slovenia with lots of backwind and heavy snowfall
I guess its no guts no glory then and that would just be awesome
