Excel: Track PBs & compare to WRs (w/ import function)
Excel: Track PBs & compare to WRs (w/ import function)
EDIT: Updated March 7, 2010
The latest version can be found here.
(Use this link if your Excel version is older than 2007. There may be some loss of functionality, since it had to be converted to an older file format.)
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Imports
- your personal best (PB) records (Mediamond web site)
- the national records (NR) (Mediamond web site)
- the (true) world records (WR) (koti.mbnet.fi web site)
- your national and world ranking for each hill
- the date of your records
- online and peak online rating
- world and national cup points
Compares
- your PBs with the HS (hill size), NRs and WRs
- in both meters and percentage
Visual feedback
- color codes the differences, so it's easy to see where you can improve
- color codes the dates, so you can see how long it's been since you got your PB
- three graphs show how your total length compares to total HS, NR and WR length
- a graph shows how each of your PBs compare to each HS
Sortable
- easy to sort by hill name, hill size, national ranking or whatever you like
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
Click on the image below to take a look.
In the screenshot, I've sorted by hill size (HS), and hidden my player name.
HOW TO MAKE IT WORK
- Go to http://www.mediamond.fi/dsj3/personalhillrecords, enter your name and click show
- Copy the address that appears in your address bar (where you type in www.mediamond.fi for example). It will look something like this: - Paste it in the B1 cell of the Excel sheet
Remember to activate macros and data connections when you open the file, or else the import functions won't work!
And that's a wrap...

ORIGINAL POST (Outdated)
Hi!
I'm a new user; just downloaded and registered DSJ3 yesterday, so first of all, hello everyone!
I missed a way of better keeping track of my personal records, and also wanted to compare them to the (true) WRs. Therefore I created a little Excel sheet where I can insert my own records, and get the difference between my records and the current WRs, both in meters and in percentage. I also color coded the difference so it's easy to see where I can most easily improve my scores (this happens automatically).
Take a look at this screenshot to get a feel of it (I've inserted some of my poor records!)
Source of the true WRs:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/kahoset/true_world ... hp?list=41
Source of the K-points (is this displayed somewhere in the game?):
http://dsj3.net/index.php?page=rekordy
Is this something anyone else would use? If so, please tell me, and I will upload an Excel template to the web so you can use it too. Both .xlsx and .xls version if needed. Also, is there anything else that I should include or you think is missing?

Hi again!
Just wanted to let you know that I've updated the Excel sheet:
It now includes an import function. If you copy your scores from http://www.mediamond.fi/dsj3/personalhillrecords into the sheet, a macro will import your data correctly, including your PB, your national and world ranking for that hill, and also the date of the record.
I also included a graph that compares the total length of the true WRs with the total length of your own records.
The following screenshots show the process of importing the scores, and how they will show up when you've imported them:
1) The default template without any scores:
2) What to copy from the Mediamond web site:
3) Where to put these scores in the Excel sheet:
4) After importing:
PS: I've only been playing for two days, and most of the hills I've tried only once, so no teasing!

You can now download the file from here:

I've made it easier to import your scores. The only thing you need to do is go to http://www.mediamond.fi/dsj3/personalhillrecords, type in your name, and copy the link you get in the address field into the Excel sheet. The address will look something like this:
http://www.mediamond.fi/dsj3/personalhi ... ersion=1.6
Then all you have to do is click the "Import now!" button. Hope you'll enjoy!
PS: Be sure to enable macros and data connections once you open the file, or else the import function won't work.

No problem, I've now included a function that imports the national records as well.Stuttgarter wrote:Thank you !!! This tool is excelent !!!
If you plan a update of this excel sheet: It is possible to get in the natinal records. For me the WR are not realy a target - at the fist step I plan to get a good national ranking ) ...
Here's a new screen shot of how things look after you've imported both your personal records and the national records. I've taken the liberty to use Severin Freund as an example (hope you don't mind!):

Just remember to copy your personal record link (as described earlier) into the B1-cell, and everything will work as it should.
Here's the link to the new version:

Tell me what you think, and if it needs improvements.
Enjoy!
The 4th record in the world list would do fine, i think.Bjørn wrote:Do you know where to find an updated TWR list? I just included the first one I found. Of course, you can change the true world records to your own liking if you choose to download the fileTPo wrote:The TWR list seems to be outdated.
Björn, I can update TWR list. It's my brother's site and I and he can upload it always when we just remember
edit: now should be updated.

Thank you! I've added a function that automatically updates the TWRs. The function checks the TWR list on your site, and copies them to the sheet.Jose_Bach wrote:Björn, I can update TWR list. It's my brother's site and I and he can upload it always when we just remember

I'll probably upload the new version tomorrow.
