This has been suggested several times. If it affects the game play it would take insane amount of work to get it balanced in every way. Some ideas have suggested it would be only visual effect, not affecting the game physics. Latter is considered fairly possible but not very high on priority.

Optional random wind in practice mode. It would change after each jump.

Dear Jussi,

First of all, I'd like to congratulate you for creating such a great game! I love it! :)
So I was eating mashed potatoes with my father tonight, while an idea popped in my mind. I know you don't really like commentary in your games, I agree with you. However, I've seen a couple of people ask for it, so I decided I'll suggest it on a official forum.
Would it be possible to enable people to create their own commentary? For example, to record their voice and put it in some folder in the game or something? I know it might be a stupid question, but I thought that since we're having a sort of a brainstorm, then maybe everything (unless it's really not valid) that comes to mind should be presented.

Again, thank you for making such a great game! Keep it up Jussi! :) And if my question really was stupid, then I apologize.

Sincerely,
JS

I am even against manual adjustment of gates and wind in training, because it makes playing less satisfying to me, as I can set the highest gate and wind, jump 270 to turn the game off instead of few months of hunting like in 'raw' DSJ3, that was more playable than DSJ4, despite DSJ4 physics beat the shit out of everything :)

But since taking the feature back would make many players ignore the upcoming versions remaining on 1.1.0, what's not healthy, I like your idea and would likely see it implemented.
I think the wind cap should be removed entirely. What does it even matter if people jump with 100m/s winds in practise? I doesn't work in the "official" modes anyway. Also, the whole wind system needs a complete overhaul, with different wind in different parts of the hill, gusts, wind- and gate compensation, all that.
Well I don't think it should be removed entirely, because even in training jumpers don't jump with wind greater than 10m/s.
The second problem is that there would be too much pressure under the skies and you would fall.
You can try that youself: -go on a flying hill and jump from wery high gate with the best wind
- in flight go forward too much so that you will get more speed in flight
- than, move back like when you land.

You'll se than what i mean, your skies will come to high and than down. With greater wind speed that would happen sooner.
(if you didn't understand any of this i can get you a replay or something)

However, I think the cap can be increased at least in training. Something like 3,5m/s max maybe?

Enable numbers in name because i have 1.0.1 and i wanna to compete in some offline tournament but i cant type my code,i know same happens to Kalle.. Hmm Jussi maybe wind to even 4.0 m/s but much lower gates and some lower speeds, like in real :)

I mean the "hard limit", not the actual "wind" option in practise. Currently, the wind can't go over 2.5m/s.

I'm pretty sure that's what I meant. I'm sorry, I'm not that great with technology.

His game crashes if he has a jumper that has numbers on his name. He wants to jump in offline tournament which has a code generator that requires him to create jumpers with a certain 3-digit code in their name.

However I do not have this problem myself :)

Strange. I haven't heard of such problem before. What's the error message?

Does anyone see thing that i see? Look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVplNpyt ... ntext=G262
LOL, there are so many trees and different things around Letalnica. This hill isn't on a flat surface, it is in MOUNTAINS WITH FORESTS!
You can see how amazing this look here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAkUUq7HN-g
Trees, trees and trees. Even if requirements would be higher, i still would like to see it in game.
Is there any chance for that trees in game, Jussi?

BTW I noticed two more interesting things in Planica:
-hill is more wooden in real than in game
-this blue "planica" could be in DSJ :D (you can see it in film with Ingebrigtsen jump)

EDIT: @Admir It could be optional, and i'm not alone with this idea.

hmm , why ? We dont need so many trees, first because a harder takeoff (we cant see our player if any of trees are in back, try that at lahti and u will see) and... So many things to do and then that trees. You said it many times, everybody saw your idea but nobody response= stupid/uselles/or something else ;)

Hello.

Why wouldn't you just let people pick, what kind of hills they want to use in their games? Talking about realistic/unrealistic set here. I don't really get it, since it shouldn't be that much of a big deal to let people actually choose whether they want to use RL hills, the fake ones or maybe mix both of the types together.

Regards
