Jumping Tips
Jumping Tips
I play DSJ4 from yesterday and I jump bad. My records are Lilehammer 132 and Lahti 116 but i rarely jump like this. I have few questions for you:
1) Can someone give me replay with perfect take-off?
2) After take-off I can't get a good position because jumper do do a backflip. Well, not full backflip, I don't make this mistake now, but a half or quarter and i fly very 80-90 meters. What do I do wrong and how get under control of this backflip?
See, this is what I mean: http://rapidshare.com/files/444698354/backflip2.rpl
3) Sometimes when I jump my jumper startes making frontflip. Again: What do I do wrong and how get under control of this?
4) Could someone make tutorial video, please?

In my opinion you should try make your jumper take-off exactly in a moment when he reaches the edge. I mean find the place before the edge, where by clicking both mouse buttons your jumper starts the take-off procedure in way, which would allow him to make his legs straight when he reaches the edge. But do not jump too late. Use replays to practice this.
Then wait the moment to let the jumper stabilize his position (or help him by using fragile mouse movements, BTW I recommend the lowest mouse sensivity in options). Try to find the position allows to make longest jumps (just analyse the replays). I recommend keeping the skis at a little angle above the horizontal position, but you will surely find the position yourself and "fill" the wind carrying jumper. Remember - don't make any rapid movements
If you're too late sometimes it's imposible to protect the jumper against frontflip (just like in reality - look at Mazoch's fall in Zakopane several years ago)
I hope that i helped you at least a little bit

..
during flight try keep pressing mouse down a little or down-right

If You will have problem with this try to change your sensitivity.
I have 1600 dpi and 1.0 , but many people have 800 dpi and 1.0 so I can't tell you the best sensitivity

Re: Jumping Tips
The same here, maybe it have something to do with the mouse?maciej53 wrote: 2) After take-off I can't get a good position because jumper do do a backflip. I tried all sensities between 1.0 and 10.0 and it seems it has no effect on the jumper.

Re: Jumping Tips
A lot of people can't or don't want to understand that desperate twiddling with dpi or sensitivity settings WILL NOT miraculously improve their jumping.Schnitzel wrote:I tried all sensities between 1.0 and 10.0 and it seems it has no effect on the jumper.
You still have to actually learn the proper technique of take-off and flight which is something that can be achieved only by intense training.
If you still make flips and land on 70m, it's not because of wrong settings. It's because you still have some practice to do.
Those of us who played dsj3 a long time will naturally need more time to get used to it.
Re: Jumping Tips
I just want to do some decent jumps and enjoy the game. and im am not talking about 120 or 130 meter,i even couldnt make the 80 meter.Martin Kafka wrote:A lot of people can't or don't want to understand that desperate twiddling with dpi or sensitivity settings WILL NOT miraculously improve their jumping.Schnitzel wrote:I tried all sensities between 1.0 and 10.0 and it seems it has no effect on the jumper.

Well, maybe this just not a game for me... i dont want to practice 5 hours a day ... maybe i am not skilled enough whatever...
dont have to play this

A little bit more staying power and you will learn this game without problems.Schnitzel wrote:I just want to do some decent jumps and enjoy the game. and im am not talking about 120 or 130 meter,i even couldnt make the 80 meter.Martin Kafka wrote:A lot of people can't or don't want to understand that desperate twiddling with dpi or sensitivity settings WILL NOT miraculously improve their jumping.Schnitzel wrote:I tried all sensities between 1.0 and 10.0 and it seems it has no effect on the jumper.

After one hour I found out the trick, stay cool.
That's because of really big sensitivity. Moving mouse more like right-down makes your down move half slower, so it's easier to control the take-off. Still it's a matter of practiceEgyLynx wrote:I not know why, but my helps (sometimes) when i mowe Mouse to right, not fr or br ,just rigth... and my jumps is best when wind is cam right... i not know why...

I still don't get it...
What I do wrong?
Usually I jump like this:

or like that:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/265810 ... lipnew.rpl
Rarely I jump like that:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/265809 ... ong_2_.rpl
What was wrong with the last jump? I think my position was good, wind too, so why I jump so bad?
And what I did wrong with first and second jump?

In the two first jumps you should push more forwards right after take off (pull the mouse slightly more towards you). In the last jump it looks mostly good from take off and early flight, but you could be more agressive towards the end (again:pull the mouse slightly more towards you).maciej53 wrote:I still don't get it...
