Seasons in online game

Would it be possible to have "seasons" in online? Then at the end of the season ranking would reset. There would be two seasons, summer (6 months) and winter (6 months).
What do you think?
Winter of each season would be announced (the guy with biggest rating at the end) and could be called world cup winner
