Alternate weekly tournaments for pro and amateur players?

Yesterday there were over 160 players in the Wednesday tournament and it was pretty difficult for many players to qualify even once, so I was thinking if we should split the weekly tournaments into:
- Tournament A, open to all players
- Tournament B, open to players with rating less than 1000
What do think?

I haven't had any time to practice lately.

Of course. You mean that players with rating 1000+ couldn't play in the tournament for players with rating less than 1000. I absolutely agree with that.

I have now setup separate servers for the pro and the amateur players. This applies to Wednesday, Saturday and Marathon tournaments. The A-tournaments are open to everyone and the B-tournaments open to players with a rating below 1100. We can still adjust the rating limit if the number of players on the servers won't be balanced.

Jussi, I think that Tournament B should be for the rating of 1000, because 1000 points is the starting amount and the number is a good range. In my opinion 1000 -: Tournament B, 1000 +: Pro;]

The average rating of all players is 1000, but let's try it with the limit of 1100 first. My reasoning was that since Tournament A is open to everyone it will attract also some players with rating less than 1100. And the best players are always the most active ones. So, a limit bit higher than the average could result well-balanced tournaments.

No. The rating limit is checked only when you enter the tournament.

Any comments how the A/B split worked?
At least I enjoyed jumping in Tournament B a lot.
Some players were already suggesting that we should have tournaments in three different levels.
