Well, who knows? Last time in Vikersund, the Norwegians claimed it was already possible to jump 240 meters, but Schlierenzauer crashed and burned at 230 meters. I believe 240 meters will be possible now, but I don't believe it's going to be 245 meters or more until I actually see it ...

Gregor jumped 224 meters, and I don't believe it's even possible to stand with that distance at the old Vikersund.

It's too bad the powers that be held back the world record at Planica (it has been enlraged and has a modified take off table for a shallower flight curve in comparison to 2005), but still my Slovenian pride doesn't mind Vikersund since its main designer is the same guy who built Planica :D

Crashed and burned at 224 meters, but he already started the "emergency procedure" at about 200 meters because he already knew where his jump might have ended otherwise. It was a really nasty flight, he would have come close to 230 meters if he hadn't intervened. But that's what I meant. The Norwegians back then already claimed that it was possible to reach 240 meters on their hill, but that was nonsense. So I'm waiting to see how big the new Vikersund actually is.

Yea, I was just agreeing with you, and stating that he jumped 224 instead of 230 further establishes the folly of claiming 240 was possible.

Can't wait for the competition :) I hope the jury (and weather) will allow flying over 239m...
Heia Vikersund!

Of course, everyone is excited - the Norwegians did a great job in hyping the new Vikersund hill! I still believe that the limit will be at about 240 meters, but it's definitely the highlight of this season.

First official jump in vikersund

It was not the best jumpers that jumped todad, but the longest was 218 meters and there was still so mutch more "hill" so I'm looking forward to the elite jumpers start jumping on friday.

219m so far, pretty good considering that these are not World Cup jumpers. It'll be pretty exciting once official training starts.

Vilberg's suit doesn't seem to suit him, it seems a bit oversized
