Jussi Koskela wrote: The first question is if the range of lines should be different in summer/winter modes. Different ranges might make it difficult to estimate how far you are jumping. Some hills are also missing the lines after HS in the plastic covering.

The second question is whether the real patterns should be replicated for each hill. The markings are not always as clear as they are currently in DSJ4 (e.g. Lahti), so it's a tradeoff between reality and clarity.
I am looking forward to hear more opinions on these.

I think you should use the original lines from all hills :)
Especially at lahti and kuusamo

In my opinion lines should be different (summer/winter). Players know each hill well and it wouldn't disturb them.

Ad.2
To my mind a scheme of lines on each hill should be like in real, but their clarity can be improved, let mi say: as if hill has been prepared for more important competition for example World Championships.

So, maybe correct range of lines in the next version and custom styles in the following. Custom styles requires a lot more work.

Customized (=real) style of lines for each hill.

It depends on how much work do you need to put in customizing the lines on each hill.
If it would talke a lot of time i think we could deal with the same lines at every hill :)

How do you define what is "correct"? After all, the lines can be laid different way for each competition.

correct as in "like in real life" during world cup competitions. Although when I think about it its pretty similar in all hills: full lines / short lines until the K point. Then a red line on a K point and on the HS point and two lines connecting the K and HS lines. And a few short lines after the HS point. The differences are small on different hills but I as a detail kind of guy notice those ;)
It be pretty cool to have custom lines for different hills but it shouldn't be on top of the list. But in some future version - yes :)

Wouldn't it be possible to make a "lines editor"? Then we could do just what we want. And i agree, custom lines for every hill - that's an awesome idea. What about deleting red K and HS marks in training mode?? Just leave the lines in the interval of 10 meters like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icI9VHGcs68
