CPU jumper stats

Post by andy1307 »

Hello

i hope this is the right forum for this topic.
I'm a DSJ4-player for several years now, but i always wonder on the CPU stats when I play World Cup offline. I know they are based on the online results in some way, but this is pretty hard on some hills:

Today's example:
Wisla (the original profile):
my jumps (I control 7 jumpers out of 61) -> somewhere around 115-125m (i know not the best, but I'm learning and training) with backwind (1 - 1,5 m/s). CPU jumpers: 130-135m -> absolutly no chance of winning or gaining a TOP 15 result. That's crazy.

Another example:
Lillehammer HS140 - frontwind (1,5 - 2,5 m/s)
my jumps -> around 130-135 m (my best jump yesterday was 138,5 m with standard judge points (2x 18,5 + 1x 19,0) -> only 13th place. The CPU on Lillehammer is crazy.
Some jumps around 128-130 m are often not enough to qualify for second round.

I know its a competitive game. And yes, I'm definitly not the best "jumper" (but I'm satisfied with my style). But some of the CPU results are beyond my imagination.

My second question: What does the slider of the CPU difficulty (in the World / Team Cup options) affect? I sometimes didn't see a difference between 0, -300 or -1000 in the competitions itself.

- the original 24 hills imo have more difficult CPU because they have been more played than the other ones
- your results on Lillehammer do not surprise me at all, I remember in online in 1.0 jumping over hs could be not enough to even qualify
- the slider changes all CPU difficulty, i.e. if you have jumpers with skill 700,1000,1300, after slider -300 you would have them jump like 600,700,1000 or with slider +300 they would jump like 1000,1300,1600. (the range is capped at 600 and 1600)
- and yeah, it's easy for "top" players to say that dsj4 is easy when you have like 10 000 hours played at it, so I recommend setting the CPU slider so that you have fun and a chance to win :)

Thanks for your answer :)

I tested the slider yesterday / today. I guess it only takes an effect on a new World Cup save and not on a saved one.
So (theoretically): Silder -1000 would set the whole CPU on round about 600, right?
I will test some competitions and find my right value.
