If you go for the best "realism", the main question is "what does it mean - realistic"? If the author answers: "as much physical factors covered, as possible" - this will be (and currently is, in my opinion) a failure. Why? Because it's not possible to cover all factors/behaviors/inputs coming from environment, humans, accidental factors, etc... Of course it's valuable to make as much effort in covering it all, as you can, but...
The main answer, for "realism" meaning should be: "as much the visible results realism, as possible". What do I mean? I mean the game is about jumping at World Cup level, right? So I will say "it's realistic", when I create the 60-70 computer players with different level of their skills level and:
a) being a fresh player I will jump at level of more or less last 10 players, I make quite often a "failed" jumps, meaning shorter, unstable, non-landed, etc...
b) being a semi-advanced player I will jump at level of 40-60 in general classification, I make "failed" jumps from time to time, usually they are stable, but shorter, with bad position during the flight, etc... generally jumps are already quite regular
c) being an advanced player I will jump at level of 15-40 in general classification, I make "failed" jumps very rarely, quite often I'm in the second round, my jumps are already regular
d) being a highly-advanced player I fight within first 15. I ALMOST NEVER make "failed" jumps, my jumps are VERY regular
e) being a super player I fight for win
That is "realistic". All other is in background.
Current version is designed in that way, that being e.g. at c) group, you sometimes make a great jumps and sometimes make a really failed jumps. Do you see in real life the same situation in World Cup? That the jumper who is fighting for win in one competition, in the second day e.g. is fighting to stay alive after landing? And that it happens quite regularly?
So my advice: you want to have it "realistic", redefine your answer for the question "what the realistic means".
But how to make it finally? I don't know, I'm only a user. Frustrated with your "realism" in the current version
