The best jumps in DSJ3 beta1 !!!

Post by Martin Kafka »

So I decided to check out the good old beta again. Brings back memories, doesn't it? It's the first version of DSJ3 (released on the 1st of May 2004).
After some jumping I got these results (on F1):
Beta K-113: 124.63m
Beta K-188: 222.45m
I think it's not bad, but there's still some room for improvement surely. Now let's do a little competition here .-)) Post your best results!
You can get the game here.
Since there are no replays in beta1, you can also post a screenshot if your result is great.

Update: I actually have no idea what the WR on these hills is. If nobody knows, let's try to create a new (perhaps official) one.
And this is what I got after approximately 1 hour of jumping:
K-113 TOP10 | K-188 TOP10
Update 2: I found this old rare video of 225.22m jump on Beta K-188. I suppose it might be the WR.
Update 3: And the WR for Beta K-113 could be 127.35m, as mentioned here.
Update 4: Alright, after several improvements I managed to land beyond 129m mark which is something incredible for me. It may be a new WR, who knows... I'm happy anyway .-)
Here you can look at my updated TOP10 from today's jumping on Beta K-113.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I've never encountered any problem with the beta, but some people have. Don't know what the problem could be though, maybe changing the graphics driver or playing with the settings tool... After all it's the first beta, so bugs and various problems can pop up... Maybe Jussi knows the solution (and he should, he has worked on all the following versions). I'd be happy to have another competitor here so I hope you'll figure it out and get it to work. Good luck!

Beta K-113: 124.83m (update: 126.10m)
Beta K-188: 221.24m (update: 223.5xm)

Beginning to understand this game, the camera angel/zoom is very strange  Not even in your top10 in K113 yet Martin, but the 221m is a bit better... Probably possible with 230m here, and 130m should be possible in K113.

Very nice jumping Audun, good to see you back. I'm not sure about that 230m, I'm currently struggling to get even close to that 225m mark... But I hope to get there soon...
My latest TOP10s after 2 days for both hills:
Beta K-113
Beta K-188
I really need to focus on K-188 now.
After hundreds of jumps done in beta, I've completely lost the feeling for v1.6.1 :!:

Great, thanks for info!!! So there is still some way to go... I know about that take-off bug thing, but I never execute it properly... Using that, I believe jumps over 130m / 230m are possible. But I was pretty damn close to Romek's WR on my 129.52m jump even without the take-off bug and the wind plays a big role, too. I don't know if I can improve even more... we'll see.

You can download the latest beta version from:
http://www.mediamond.fi/dsj3/downloads/dsj3beta3.exe

It should work better than the earlier beta versions, though there were some graphics compatitibiliy problems that were fixed only later at the final releases.
