Try to hit the left mouse-button only while you're landing ...

You also get worse points for telemark when you start the landing to late. You have to do like Schlierenzauer, he starts his telemark almost in mid air :)

TRy to do the telemark landing like it is described in the manual. And try to make it less wide by clicking one button and after about 1 sec 2nd button, and try to set the jumper as much horizontal to the ground as its possible. I am using this techinque and getting 18.5''s VERY RARELY. Usually they are 19.0's, 19.5's , and I also have plenty of only 20.0's replays.

P.S. Try to get ready position for landing when the jumper is about 3 - 8mm above the ground. I mean that the legs has to be in upright position and the skies has to be in line.

While I was messing around in training in Russia I found something that might be a bug. If I just tapped the mouse buttons in the take-off I always got worse style points regardless of how good landing I did. Holding the buttons down longer produces a more effective take-off.

The judges rate also the takeoff in DSJ3. You get the best scores if you click both mouse buttons exactly at the same time and keep them pressed until the ski jumper has straightened his legs.

I've been always curious how does the "judge system" in DSJ work. Would you be so kind Jussi to explain it? :)

Thanks a lot for the answer.

The judges in DSJ3 give the style points based on the following criteria:

Takeoff: balance, duration, timing
Press both mouse buttons at the same time and keep them down until the end of the takeoff. Make sure that the timing is correct.

Flight: body angle, rotation, stability
Produce optimal flight trajectory by moving the mouse down. Excess body movement and change of rotation is penalized.

Landing: initial and final telemark width, landing depth, balance, crash
Initiate the telemark landing by pressing left/right mouse button. Finalize the telemark landing by pressing the other mouse button. It's crucial that the width of the telemark is correct at the time of ground contact.

Some randomness is added to each evaluation criteria to simulate human error in judging.

Well, I didn't know that the system analyzes so many aspects of the jump :)

Thanks for the reply :)
