New world record?

Post by TPo »

Guess the lenght and jumper of the new world record! What is the prize? Glory and reputation
My guess is 246m by Martin Koch.
Total Length: 5353.38 m // 7749.06 m // 1603.92 m
Total Length: 14706.36 m

Judges will set a gate very low "for security" - that's all.

I don't think judges will set the gate THAT low because the organizers also have a say in this. That's the way professional sport works. And besides: It's the largest hill in the world, so the wind will also have the biggest influence we've ever seen. It can happen very easily that one of the top flyers has an almost perfect flight AND the right wind. Remember Uhrmann in Klingenthal in the first round? Something like that can easily happen in Vikersund and I believe that this will also be the way there will be a new world record. There won't be numerous flights over 240 meters, there will only be one or two, I believe. At least this year. And then it all depends on the landing. What did Janne say about the longest ski flight of all time (up to now)? "The flight was awesome, but my landing sucked!"

220.5m was the longest distance today, the hill record from the old Vikersund has already fallen. I do hope Robert Kranjec can get a new slovenian record (maybe even world record? :D). He's the current holder with 229m, which is only 4m away from the HS point. But anyways, we'll see tomorrow what's possible when the elite tests it out.

Koch will jump 240.5 and Kranjec 243
Edit: I believe Ammann will jump good in this hill, maybe 235+

Btw: there will be a new record, for now, NON-world cup competitors jump about 220m. In Planica you have to be one of the best jumpers to jump over 220m, lets say that 240m is easy challenge for even this year, next year they will jump even longer.

254m+ of course. :D 8)

Honestly, I'm a bit sad that Romoeren will probably loose his record. I mean I don't know him at all, but I somehow like that guy. Think, he's a very sincere person and a good WR holder.
