Bug from gates
Bug from gates
I have wind 1.5. from right. I have gate 8.
Next time, i have(the same) wind, but i have gate 9!!!!!
I am having a feeling that the system of beams isn't worked out.

Re: Bug from gates
Then the wind was a bit different and the game chose a different gate.
Re: Bug from gates
nice I didnt notice that
Re: Bug from gates
The gate height is dependent on the 'starting' wind. 'Starting' wind is the one you choose for example in practice mode. You can set it to 2.0 but during the jump it can be +/- 0.5 (or did it change in beta 2?).
That explains the differences.
Right now i'm trying to figure out how much does the wind direction affect the starting gate

Re: Bug from gates
This varies hill by hill. For example in Lahti 1 m/s difference in wind means 2 gates.Metsi wrote: Right now i'm trying to figure out how much does the wind direction affect the starting gate
Re: Bug from gates
I understand that, it logic that it changes depending on the hill sizeJussi Koskela wrote:This varies hill by hill. For example in Lahti 1 m/s difference in wind means 2 gates.Metsi wrote: Right now i'm trying to figure out how much does the wind direction affect the starting gate
But is it the same with the direction of the wind? Does is affect the gate height the same way on small hills and the same on bigger ones? Is there a pattern e.g. 20 degrees = +/- 1 gate or something like that?

Re: Bug from gates
Only the perpendicular component of the wind is considered. I have set the coefficient for each hill experimentally. On big hills the wind affects the position of the gate more.
Re: Bug from gates
Sorry for diggin this deeper, but i want to make sure i get it right:
If i have a 2,0 180 degree wind on Bad Mit the gate is set to 4.
If i have a 2,0 160 degree wind on Bad Mit the gate will be set to 4 even though the wind influence on the inrun speed is lowered ?
If it works that way, i wasted so much time on looking for a straight to face wind instead of finding a bit sided one?

Re: Bug from gates
Perpendicular components:
2.0 m/s * cos(180°) = -2 m/s
2.0 m/s * cos(160°) = -1,88 m/s
In Bad Mitterndorf the coefficient is set to 3 gates per 1 m/s of wind, so both of those winds will be rounded to the same gate.

Ah i get it now Sorry for troubling you but i had to make sure. I'm an old record hunter so it's quite important for me
Thanks for explaining
