In practice it means that the game won't feel laggy when lots of text is changing on the screen.

There will be kind of 'archive' of daily, weekly, etc records or older records will be deleted?

It's possible to browse the hill records for the previous period in each category. So, the daily hill records will be archived for 1 extra day, the weekly hill records for 1 extra week and so on. With this scheme there will be eventually 240 replays stored for each player.

On the hill records page, is there any difference between online/offilne and weekly/monthly etc. selections for current rating and peak rating? I don't see any difference (of course, neither of these can really be "offline" and in case of current rating only daily would make any sense) but all of these options seem to be available.

There's no difference. The historical values are not tracked at the moment.
