Some great ideas from this forum

Post by Rid »

I was searching for some ideas and I think they should be included in next versions

1. Sounds
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 041#p43041
Greexs idea has too much sounds for me, for some people maybe not. But sound of people and sound when we set new hill record should be enough

2. Texture packs
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 439#p35439
Have you seen how it's done in Minecraft? Maybe you can do something like that :3 I know that MC is written in java, but it musn't be 100% like MC

3. Folder support for jumpers.
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 734#p25734
We have lots of packs on forum and it can be great if we can have it all in our game but categorised

4. Ability to set how many jumpers can be in 1st round after Q and in 2nd round after 1st round
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 130#p16130

5. Ability to skip hill in WC
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 752#p16752
Sometimes you don't want to play whole WC in one day. You're playing it next day, but next hill is for example Oberstdorf HS213 and you think "eh, I don't want it now" and want to skip it but it isn't possible. In WC season 11/12 we skipped Klingenthal because of wind conditions, in game it can be like that :3

6. Achievements
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 442#p22442

7. Podium
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 988#p29988

8. Generate new wind button - for those who want beat record :P
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 484#p37484

9. New menu and popups
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 307#p34307 - great menu :3
http://www.mediamond.fi/forum/viewtopic ... 196#p28196 - nice popup :3

10. Improved calendar menu
I couldn't find the theard, if I remember correctly Polish guy made it. There was ability to set type of competition (KO, normal, team) and probably a time of start competition.

11. Some small ideas

You're not forced to use it like "option to show jump distances with half meter accuracy" :P

Yes, that makes sense. I think this is a great idea. In real life there may be a headwind at the takeoff, but the wind direction could change throughout the landing hill. Then there could be a tailwind after the knoll and then a sidewind at K. This would make the game more difficult and more realistic :) and in practice you would just set what you would want all of the parts of the landing hill to be :)

The CPU players couldn't handle this with the current approach. I can't gather enough statistical data from the online game if there are too many changing factors.

1. Select helmet type

and ability to rotate jumper by mouse.

2. Enhanced Calendar
Tabs - normal hills, big(huge, don't know how I can translate it :P) and ski flying. I click on normal tabs and I can see only normal hills, click on ski flying - I see all sky flying hills
Showing K-point of hill. Some hills can have the same HS point, but K point is diffirent

The CPU players are turning out to be a somewhat limiting burden for the game's development progress. First dropping the 'snow/rain/etc affecting the jumps' idea, and now this. Oh well.

I totally agree with you. I know that this is a big problem, but we must face the question: are CPU players really necessary at all? Maybe it would be better to make DSJ 4 perfect ski jumping simulator instead of sticking to the opinion that CPU players HAVE TO be in game?
