CPU Players poll

Ideas and suggestions for improving DSJ4.

What kind of CPU players would you like to have in DSJ4?

I want to view CPU player's jumps (=slow)

I want to view only the results (=fast)

Only the results. For me watching CPU jumps is not necessary.

I want to see the same as DSJ3 ;) you know, options (fast or slow), that would be good :D
DSJ3 TL: 7755.36m (#39), peak: 1325 (#490)
DSJ4 TL: 3550.97m (#3), online: 3506.29m (#11), peak: 1942 (#5)

DSJ3 PB: 318.88m (#19)
DSJ4 PB: 242.88m (#2)

Tom2, you misunderstood something. While the slow option includes the option to see cpu jumpers actually jump, it also means that the mere calculation of cpu jumpers' jumps will take ages, just like in DSJ3. So when you say "the same as DSJ3", you clearly got that wrong. There was no fast or slow in DSJ3, there was ONLY slow in DSJ3. This poll is about slow (as in DSJ3) vs fast (only results, no visible cpu jumps). THAT is the difference between slow and fast. You obviously were mistaken and thought that "slow = you watch a cpu jump" and "fast = you don't watch a cpu jump and only get the result". That is not the case.
skill since 1337 ;)

Fast means you wont be able to see the actual jump. Only the result. Slow means the game generates the whole jump using game's physics. Therefore there will be more loading if the whole jump is generated.

That's gotta hurt.

If the CPU results were simulated with the physics engine it would take at least few seconds per jumper to get the results even if the jump itself was not showed. This is the way that it is done in DSJ3, but as the physics calculation is now much more complex in DSJ4 it would be slower than in DSJ3.

With a statistical approach all the results could be generated with no waiting at all (but you wouldn't be able to see the jumps).

I think the result is pretty clear already :) This means Jussi could start working on the CPU players now.
Total Length: 5353.38 m // 7749.06 m // 1603.92 m
Total Length: 14706.36 m

There's still a kind of chicken-egg problem. My plan was to collect the result statistics for each hill from the online game, so the CPU players could be made available for the new hills only after few days of online jumping.
