Who has tried a real ski jump?
Who has tried a real ski jump?
Congratulations to Jussi for trying the real thing.
Who else has tried it? Post your experience here.
I was a ski jumper from 1971-1980 in Canada.
Hills I have jumped:
Camp Fortune, Canada ( HS78?)
Thunder Bay, Canada (HS100 and HS140)
Banff, Canada (HS80?)
Revelstoke, Canada (HS90?)
Lake Placid, NY USA (HS100)
Berlin, NH USA (HS110?)
Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany in 1973 (HS89 and HS125)
Seefeld, Austria in 1973 (HS100)
St Moritz, Switzerland in 1973 (HS100)
I did not win any significant competitions, but I had lots of fun.

I think that we have also much more real skijumpers! Come on! I have jumped only 10 meters. It happened year 1960.

Re: Who has tried a real ski jump?
Yes, I think the game is very realistic. Jussi keeps improving the physics and the jumper flies in a way that I expect. I like the game because it reminds me very much of the real thing.BODI wrote:So,CarGuy,can you relate in anyway the game with real jumpingCarGuy wrote:Congratulations to Jussi for trying the real thing.

A few years ago, me and a couple of friends built a small ski jump at the place where we used to sledge down the hill. We used our cross-country skies to jump with (theyre alot thinner than real ski jump skies), it was quite fun But because there was many people there at the same time, there was always a risk to jump. From the top of the hill, you couldnt see anyone down the hill, so it happened that I jumped on someone..*lol at theire faces when they saw me coming*
I think my longest jump was about 5 meters, sometimes my takeoff was too powerfull so I made a salto
Ahhh good old times

hey carguy:
I did a lot of nordic combined back in the early 90's.. I medalled in the canadian junior championships for a good couple years!! jumped thunder bay, calgary, banff, duluth, cloquet, minneapolis, and St. Paul... most of those being around the k50 mark (outside of calgary, I hit the big hills!!).
You'll be sad to know that Big Thunder has been lying dormant since the 95 world nordic championships!
