Re: What do offline and online records tell?

The way I see it (ideally at least): Offline Maximum potential of each hill Need perfect jump + perfect wind/gate ( = excellent player + lots of time) --> record hunting necessary Online For comparing players' skill No possibility of record hunting --> only skill counts (in theory) If you want to re...

I'm all for it but I don't think the hunters would like that .

Re: On the philosophy of record hunting

With those "tricks" you can approximately double the number of jumps compared to jumping in every competition normally. Doesn't sound very compelling to me, but of course I'm not a record hunter type of person. :) Neither am I but I think true hunters will use any available means of impro...

Re: On the philosophy of record hunting

@Jussi Nice but there are still workarounds. You could jump two hills then restart or just switch between cups (alternate these two for maximum effect, the 2 minutes won't matter too much). Or even easier, you can just jump 0m everytime the wind is bad (which is not much slower than restarting). Of ...

Re: On the philosophy of record hunting

Quite pathetic to look at the People who goes in and out of the game, ski flying cup and New hills, alle day just to search for Wind so they can have their name on the list. Yes, this is what I was refering to. It does seem a bit "wrong", I agree. I have nothing against hunting in world c...

Re: On the philosophy of record hunting

So, now that we have online records (thanks btw :) ), I think it is appropriate to revisit this discussion. Take a look at the online records only one day after release, some of those jumps are very impressive. In fact, so impressive that it's obvious that people have not stopped record hunting; the...

Re: Online stat calculator

The app has been updated to include online records. It might be a bit buggy so if anyone notices anything strange, just tell me. I decided to store only weekly, monthly and all time online total length. EDIT: User interface is now more flexible: it is now possible to search for players in the player...

Re: Changelog DSJ4 v1.5.2 -> DSJ4 v1.6.0

On the hill records page, is there any difference between online/offilne and weekly/monthly etc. selections for current rating and peak rating? I don't see any difference (of course, neither of these can really be "offline" and in case of current rating only daily would make any sense) but...

Re: The future of DSJ

I wonder how much remains of the potetial customer base that hasn't yet bought the game. It's not like ski jumping and this type of games (skill based sports games for PC) are becoming more popular, so Jussi should (in my opinion, I might be wrong of course) focus on getting more of the players who ...

Re: The future of DSJ

I'm not going to give any numbers, but the share is not that high. I think one of the problems is that it's mostly the very high level players who keep playing online, which, in turn, scares the beginners easily away. Free online playing would naturally attract more players to buy the base game but...

Re: The future of DSJ

I don't think you should request things like ... My post was only half serious, you know... If, as Jussi implies, the current model is not very profitable, he has to come up with something if he wants to make more money, however the "suggestions" I made were references to what others have...

Re: The future of DSJ

Include advertisment doesn't have to be negative. Like EA Games has advertisment in their FIFA games in the stadion, you can implement advertising in the outrun, on helmets, skies (fischer, elan, flüge) Oh right, that might be more reasonable, I was thinking of some kind of nagware advertising like...

Re: The future of DSJ

the most common word of mouth seems to be how to play the full version illegally for free. It's pretty descriptive if you check what additional keywords Google suggests when you search for 'Deluxe Ski Jump 4'. That's true for most commercial proprietary software, I think. It is probably the reason ...

Re: Online World Cup A 2013/2014 - Overall classification

Nice season. Ninth place overall is all right for me, and it's nice to see Kalle at third place.
Congrats to Maciej Sylwestrzuk for total dominance .
