A few bad crashes and really long jumps from Kulm '86, including a tied world record:

Re: Question to Mr. Koskela
Yea, people forget that the athletes get 5 or 6 six jumps on a hill PER YEAR, so catching those perfect conditions along with making the perfect jump is next to impossible, so I don't see a problem with DSJ hillrecords being higher than the real ones.

Re: Planica rebuilding
http://image.24ur.com/media/images/600xX/Dec2011/60827277.jpg That's comparison of old and new flying hill? The hill at RIGHT is new? No, that's just a comparison, Letalnica will be rebuilt. Landing area will stay the same, this just shows how much higher and further into the hill the new inrun wil...

Re: Planica rebuilding
Here's an article with a comparison on how the new hill will look with the current as reference. They will be only moving the inrun up, landing area will stay the same, so they won't have as much digging work to do.

Re: Higher Wind and Flying Positions
Since you already replied in this thread Jussi, it was suggested that ski flying styles could be purely cosmetic, and an invisible model of the current style would be used for physics. Would that be plausible? Since all calculations would still be done on a model that's the same for everyone you wou...

Re: over 300m (In what year)
I already wrote down the key points from the article, mainly: K200, allowing flights up to 270m, already approved by FIS, expected to be ready in 2 years. Again, the interview was with Janez Gorišek, the man who designed Planica and Vikersund, so it's pretty legit

Re: over 300m (In what year)
An interview with Janez Gorišek on the Slovenian national tv site revealed that FIS already approved a new design for Planica which would put it at K200 and allow flights to about 270m. It's expected to be ready for competitions in 2 years, though with the way Planica has been run so far, it'll prob...

Re: Landing difficulty
I know that something like this would be very difficult to implement, but I always thought Matti Hautamaeki had the best way of landing overlong jumps, like in his 231m world record from 2003 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaOLuHqMKsU . He extends his hands and brings his skis from v-style to para...

Re: Jussi, some new ideas...
I don't know if anyone has suggested these before, but I still give you some ideas: To give us more options to make jumpers we like, is it impossible to put some kind of BMI/height/weight system that allows us to make longer jumpers that can be fat or underweight or whatever? Of course, the skis wi...

Yea, Kulm is a real pain to land. I still have a 219.32 replay that haunts me.

Re: 221.66 Bad Mitterndorf
Yea, the flight phaze was amazing. And about the takeoff, I read the comments before seeing the replay and thought it was gonna be some impossible quick correction,
but I didn't see anything that can't be achieved normally. Big grats on this effort.

Re: Who will win 4 hills tournament?
Kranjec is definately in form this year, just needs to get more consistant and put in 2 good jumps. Even though a top 3 is unlikely, we already had Peter Žonta explode, so anything is possible. What I look forward to most are the flying hills, if history is any indication, Robi should do amazing thi...

Re: Flying style
Jussi has already stated that the physics engine takes EVERYTHING into consideration, hip angle, ankles angle etc etc, so implementing a new jumping style just for aesthetic reasons would add a lot of unneeded overhead. It would be a nice bonus when the game is already out of beta stage and tweaked ...
