Hiding a chat window during the jump

I don't use chat, I have it always disabled, nevertheless, every time I run DSJ4 and start online play, I have to manually hide a chat window that apears during the jump (ctrl+C). I guess this is not the correct way 'disable the chat' option should work ?
Edit:
What I mean, is that "/chat off" has to be typed once. After restarting the game I don't have to type it again.
But ctrl+C has to be used every time I start DSJ, the game just doesn't save this setting.
