Will these air things affect jumping mechanics? That would be so interesting! :)

YES! This hill is unbelievable! It looks exactly like it does in real life. And yes, from experience jumping this hill in real life, the high altitude of the hill (and I believe that it is the highest hill in the world) makes it really difficult to jump because of the lack of pressure due to the low air density. Thank you so much for creating another great hill and I can't wait to play it! I can't wait to see the 90 as well. This is awesome.

Jussi Koskela wrote:Oh, one more thing. The Park City hills are situated at the altitude of 2185 meters which is over 1000 meters higher than any other hill in DSJ4. This means that the air density (and air resistance) will be 10-20 percent lower than in other hills. This alone will make the jumping quite unique.
Wind conditions look like a complicated variable which defines automatic gate adjustment etc.
Is it possible to add to this function of hill parameters and wind conditions another variable - precipitation conditions?
I mean only: the bigger precipitation the slower speed on take-off.
And whatabout other improvements mentioned earlier like different wind in different places on hill?

Yes, of course.
And how it actually is in "normal" language"? :P What is the difference in the feeling of jumps?

Jussi, could you please answer me to this question, so, why there is no stronger wind than 2m/s??
DSJ will be more realistic if wind could be 3-5 m/s. Because in world cup, jury let jumpers jump to even 5m/s wind.

I think you should think that effect :)

And please, answer me!

It's probably because the ski jumper is too good in DSJ4 and some hills the comp gate is so low that there wouldn't be enough gates to move down to compensate for the more headwind. Although I do think it is a bit unrealistic how low some of the comp gates are on some of the hills because for example, comp gate on ga-pa should be like 20 or something.

Here's a copy of Jussi's response when we discussed this back in November 2011:
Martin Kafka wrote:I'm voting for the return of occasional gusts of wind up to 3.5 - 4 m/s.
Having 2 m/s as an absolute max may seem realistic, but it's just... sterile.
And it also greatly reduces possibility of sensational hill records.
Jussi Koskela wrote:This is matter of taste. Would increase the factor of luck and could result more people waiting for the gust in the online mode.

It's a great job actually. More hills = better game. They look similar because most of the real hills look similar these days...
