Mysn A501 Notebook - Direct3D Adapter problem.

Post by Severin »

Hi there Jussi,

I got a Schenker (Clevo) notebook with both an integrated Intel Graphics and a Geforce GT 555M.
The standard setting is to use the Intel one for every action, but I can chose the Geforce in the settings of most games.

Additionally I can chose to run a game with the Geforce over the right-click context menu. But neither works for DSJ as the card won't show up in the settings and I get the "could not find the selected 3d adapter" with the seconds option.

Any guesses what I can do?

Can you run setup.exe also with Geforce enabled from the context menu?

Yes I can!

And it leads to the Geforce showing up in the settings.
However, if I choose it and start the game afterwards I'm back to the "Could not find..." error message...

Have you tried to set dsj4.exe to always use geforce card from your computer settings? I had similar problem with world of warcraft untill I set my computer to use better gfx card by default for that specific program.

DSJ4 identifies the selected adapter based on its GUID (globally unique identifier). Looks like your graphics driver somehow fakes this GUID so that the setup program and the game see it differently.

If you are familiar with regedit you could check if the value of the following key changes when you run the setup program twice and select the Geforce adapter.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mediamond\Deluxe Ski Jump 4\Video Adapter

Running it twice (i.e. at the same time with different Graphics) is not possible.

Running it one after the other results in nothing changing, the key stays the same (D7B78E66-4266-11CF-B269-0C35B7C2C535)

I don't know what could go wrong if you are running the setup and the game with same settings.

So, that leaves me stuck with no other option than to wait for better drivers or anything like?

Obviously it's a driver issue as it is not exposing the 3d adapter to the game as it does for the setup program.
You could try installing older drivers or beta drivers if available.
