Why can't we download older versions of DSJ?

Probably because older versions have problems and bugs which are fixed in newer versions.
Would you sell software that doesn't work well and people had problems with?

Not a valid reason. The newest version would be the default one and if the player chooses an older version, then they have to count with the possibility of crashes and other problems.
Minecraft is probably the best example of a game that allows the player to choose an older version and I haven't heard of anyone having any problems with it.
That being said, it would probably be interesting to choose older versions and see how the game changed over the years, but I don't think many people would use it so it might not be worth the time to actually add the possibility.

in minecraft there are plenty of user's mods and it is a reason that you can downgrade your version. in DSJ it makes no sense especially that last update is the best of all releases.
